Nikko

Here are a few snaps taken in and around Nikko. Nikko is a World Heritage site where you can find many Shinto and Buddhist shrines and temples. The craft work is amazing and our guide, Mrs Ota was full of stories and facts relating to the area. Our capacity for wonder almost overflowed - it was either the facts or the heaviest downpour of rain that did it.

There were many interesting back streets to wonder along.

We went on our own adventure and found these amazing sleeping samurai.

Kegon Falls, 97m high - to reach the bottom we took the elevator through 100m of bedrock!

The Kanaya Hotel, Nikko - wow! We half expected to see Hercule Poirot relaxing in the lounge. This is a time capsule of elegance and style. Highly recommend.

An avenue of lanterns at Rinoji Temple site.

We Scots think we know all about summer downpours ...............

Three wise monkeys.

Calum and Shirleyatthe Shinkyo Bridge.
